Vlad Barbalat is President and Chief Investment Officer of Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI). In this role, he leads the investments business for Liberty Mutual Insurance, overseeing LMI’s mission to create capital by managing the company’s globally invested financial assets.
Vlad joined the company in 2017 as Head of Investment Strategy and was later promoted to Co-Head of Strategy and Asset Allocation for LMI. In 2021, he was appointed to his current role.
In 2003, Vlad began his career as an analyst at Goldman Sachs in New York, where he spent 13 years and held several leadership positions — including his promotion to Managing Director in 2012 — across proprietary investing businesses and the broader Securities division franchise. Vlad later joined the investment firm Grantham, Mayo, Van Otterloo & Co. LLC where he served as Head Portfolio Manager for the firm’s flagship Global Macro hedge fund and as a senior member of its Asset Allocation team.
Vlad is a member of Focusing Capital on the Long Term (FCLTGlobal), the Peterson Institute for International Economics’ Global Future Council and the International Council of the Belfer Center at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He also serves on the board of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation.
Vlad graduated summa cum laude from New York University in 2003, earning dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance and Information Systems, and completed his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2006.
Vlad immigrated to the United States from Moldova, a republic of the former Soviet Union, in 1990. He is fluent in Russian and has a passion for immigration causes, global history and geopolitical policy. Vlad enjoys traveling the world, surfing, and geeking out on all things history and philosophy.

Adam Winn joined Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI) in 2017 and is currently the co-head of Global Private Investments (GPI) and a member of the LMI executive team.
As co-head of GPI, Adam oversees the strategy and day-to-day business of LMI’s private investment platforms, which span private equity, venture capital, private credit, real estate, distressed and energy transition. He also leads efforts to drive innovation and partnerships more broadly for LMI.
Prior to joining LMI, Adam spent more than a decade at Goldman Sachs. There, he led the Cross Asset Solutions Group in the Securities Division and, along with his team was responsible for structuring investment and financing solutions for institutions.
Serving as a board member of the YMCA of Greater Boston is one of the many ways Adam is active in his community.
Adam has a Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University.

Conrad is responsible for Liberty Mutual Investments' (LMI) private capital portfolios including private equity, real estate, private markets lending, energy transition, infrastructure, and other real assets. He manages an overall portfolio that generates high risk-adjusted returns, capitalizes on the illiquidity premium in private markets and creates partnership opportunities across Liberty Mutual Group.
Conrad began his career at Liberty Mutual Insurance on the Corporate Strategy & Research team in 2004. After transitioning to LMI in 2007, he has held a series of progressively senior roles at the company. He helped launch the Special Situations platform to make concentrated investments in new sectors such as wind energy, credit default swaps, and railcars. Subsequently, as Head of Real Estate, he was responsible for expanding the firm’s global commercial real estate investments through direct holdings, fund commitments, joint venture partnerships, and commercial real estate debt. He also assumed responsibility for LMI’s timber and agriculture investments, overseeing a variety of forestry and vineyard holdings in the U.S., Brazil, and Uruguay.
Prior to joining Liberty Mutual group, Conrad held a variety of finance, strategy consulting, sales and entrepreneurial roles with yet2.com, Mercer Management Consulting, General Electric and Meditrac.
Conrad earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering and Electrical Engineering from Duke University and a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University.
Conrad enjoys making up excuses to be on the ocean or around the waterfront, skiing in ridiculous East Coast conditions, or working with his hands and doing his best MacGyver imitation. His motto: “there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear.”

As Co-Head of Global Fixed Income, Christopher (Chris) Felton is jointly responsible for the management of Liberty Mutual Investments' (LMI) fixed income portfolio, and oversight of an investment team of over 60 investors across a broad set of asset class expertise. He is responsible for maximizing the risk-adjusted returns across the fixed income portfolios.
Prior to assuming his current role in 2016, Chris held multiple roles at LMI across the trading, credit research and portfolio management functions. These roles spanned multiple asset classes and sectors across fixed income, including his two previous roles as the Head of Credit and the lead portfolio manager for the $19B Regional Agency Market Company portfolios.
Throughout his career, Chris has held a variety of leadership roles at LMI and has served on the internal investment committee and a member of the LMI executive team since 2014.
A CFA charter holder, Chris is also a member of the Boston Securities Analyst Society and the National Federation of Municipal Analysts.
Chris received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of UMass-Lowell and a Master of Business Administration from Northeastern University. He also earned his CFA designation in 2003.
Chris enjoys time with family and friends, traveling, card games, cornhole and Karaoke (although anyone that has heard him sing wishes he didn’t).

Prior to his current role, Paul was the Chief Operating Officer of LMI and was accountable for the successful delivery of all our investment enabling services. This included building new capabilities as well as accelerating the alignment of operations, finance and technology to our business of investing.
Before joining LMI in 2017, Paul served six years as Co-Portfolio Manager for an active total return credit portfolio at Harvard Management Company. He also held a variety of roles at Lehman Brothers and Barclays Bank. Paul began his career as a lawyer on Wall Street at Sullivan & Cromwell.
Paul earned his CFA designation in 2001.
Paul holds a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania; an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA; and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania.
In his free time, Paul loves attending Patriots football games and taking his friends and family for sightseeing flights in his airplane.

Helen joined Liberty Mutual Insurance in 2001 and currently serves as the General Counsel for the Investments Legal Group and Deputy General Counsel for Liberty Mutual Insurance.
Helen’s practice handles the legal needs of Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI), providing counsel to the LMI leadership team and helping set strategy. She leads the Investments Legal Group, which provides legal advice, counsel and support to LMI across a variety of topics including, structuring, and negotiating terms in Private Equity funds, direct investments, co-investments, real estate partnerships, energy transition, structured finance, leveraged finance and other private debt investments. In her role as Deputy General Counsel for Liberty Mutual Insurance, Helen is part of the global legal team of more than 2000 legal professionals operating in 21 countries at the company.
Throughout her distinguished career at Liberty Mutual, Helen has worked on numerous merger and acquisition activities. Highlights include the sale of Liberty Life Assurance Company of Boston plus the purchases of Safeco Corporation and The Ohio Casualty Corporation.
Prior to joining Liberty Mutual, Helen served as Associate General Counsel at CMGI, Inc. Her focus at CMGI was twofold, mergers and acquisitions, including the acquisition of the Alta Vista Company, and venture capital investments for @Ventures. Helen began her legal career as a corporate associate at Boston-based Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP and Palmer & Dodge LLP.
Helen is a proud supporter of the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts, the Boston Bar Association, and BSA Troop & Crew 56 (Cambridge). She serves as CEO of the Glen & Ellen McLaughlin Foundation.
Helen received a Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude, from Cornell University. She also has a Juris Doctorate, Cum Laude from Boston College Law School.
Helen enjoys quality time with family, entertaining friends, gardening, traveling, and skiing. She also relishes reading and collecting nonsense literature, (Particularly Edward Gorey), which rejuvenates her soul.

She leads a team of talented professionals who partner to deliver the financial, operational, and compliance capabilities that enable our evolving portfolio.
Having joined Liberty Mutual Insurance in 2002 as a financial analyst, she rose quickly through the ranks, and held a variety of roles within finance, strategy, analytics, and operations. Prior to her current role, Julie was the Chief Financial Officer for Global Retail Markets where she is recognized for transforming the Global Finance organization.
Julie is proud to serve on the board of directors for the Women’s Lunch Place in Boston.
Julie has a Bachelor of Science in Management from Providence College and a Master of Business Administration from Babson College. Kristin Mason-Paszkewicz joined Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI) in 2017 and is currently the Chief Talent Officer of LMI and a member of the LMI executive team.
The LMI Talent organization is responsible for developing integrated talent strategies that align to the investment strategy and drive business outcomes.
As chief talent officer, Kristin partners with the executive leadership team to shape the organizational vision for long term talent strategies. She is focused on cultivating a high-performance culture where each employee has the opportunity to reach their full potential and deliver excellence for the firm. Kristin’s responsibilities include overseeing the efforts to attract, develop, retain and incentivize world class asset management talent.
Prior to joining LMI, Kristin was a senior HR business partner at Boston Scientific where she led global talent strategies for the Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance and Manufacturing divisions. Kristin has also held various talent leadership roles at National Grid and The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

Mark joined Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI) in 2017. As Chief Risk Officer for LMI, Mark is responsible for helping the organization achieve its capital creation goals by providing an independent, objective perspective on the investment process and exposures.
Mark leads the Risk Management group that informs on LMI portfolio risk profile, tolerance, and positioning. Working across LMI, they set standards and create a common view of portfolio exposures, engaging throughout the investment process to build a collaborative and constructive risk culture across the enterprise.
Prior to joining LMI, Mark was Senior Vice-President of Risk and Asset Allocation at Harvard Management Company.

Michael brings 20+ years of software engineering and technology leadership experience to Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI).
Joining the company in 2018 as LMI’s Chief Technology Officer, Michael has led a variety of strategic initiatives. As head of the LMI Data Office, Michael was accountable for the mobilization of data initiatives across investments, operations, and technology. Most recently, Michael’s role expanded to include leadership of the Corporate Functions technology organization. In this capacity, he supports Liberty Mutual’s Global Finance, Legal, Talent & Enterprise Services groups in addition to his work with LMI.
Michael’s passion for data and emerging technologies coupled with his industry expertise have led him to oversee several enterprise-wide, technology services. This work includes data science tooling, data services and platforms and user experience design.
Prior to joining LMI, Michael held a variety of senior leadership technology related roles at Fidelity Investments.
Michael is an avid golfer and competes in amateur events across the country.
Michael serves as a director on the board for Boston CASA, a non-profit whose mission is ensuring a safe and permanent home for court-involved children.
Michael earned a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Michael enjoys spending time with his wife, 2 teenage daughters and 2 dogs. He is an accomplished amateur golfer competing in many state-wide championships.

Patrizio Urciuoli joined Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI) in 2006 and has held multiple roles across the organization. He is currently Head of Strategy & Asset Allocation (SAA), a member of LMI Executive Team and Chairperson of the Sustainable Investment Steering Committee.
As Head of SAA, Patrizio ensures that LMI’s investing activities collectively maximize long term risk-adjusted total returns, fully leveraging Liberty Mutual’s competitive advantages while optimizing for Liberty’s unique constraints. He partners with the Chief Investment Officer to set portfolio strategy and asset allocation for the $100 billion general account.
Patrizio’s team designs and implements an investment process integrating macro trends, a cross-asset lens, and the unique complexities and needs of the insurance business. His organization directly manages public equity, asset allocation overlay portfolio and oversees the asset allocation and management of all affiliated international entities, in addition to the LMG’s pension plan. Patrizio also leads initiatives that impact investment business strategy across the broader enterprise, such as Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance integration, capital allocation, mergers & acquisitions, industry intelligence and LMI’s relationship management.
